The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State has totally rejected the results of the re-run election of Saturday, 15 April 2023 held in the state.

The re-run House of Assembly election was held in Kudan, Giwa West, Kauru and Sanga constituencies where they were declared inconclusive on the March 18 governorship and House of Assembly election.

Ibrahim Wusono, the Kaduna State PDP Secretary, in a protest letter on Monday, alleged that the party’s agents were beaten and sent away from polling units and collation centres that were characterised with intimidation, thuggery and vote buying.

PDP’s letter which was addressed to the Kaduna State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, stated that the party had rejected the re-run election results.

He explained, “You are aware that re-run elections were held in four State House of Assembly Constituencies in Kaduna State namely Kudan, Giwa West, Kauru and Sanga as permitted by law, we sent our agents to both polling units where the elections were held or were to hold and the collation centres.”

The party alleged that the reports it received from its agents showed that the election was marred by violence, thuggery, ballot box snatching, assault and battery, adding that there was the use of compromised security agents to harass, intimidate and chase out their supporters and agents from the polling units and the collation centres.

The statement said the party’s Returning Agent at the Kudan Collation Center, Abdullahi S. Ahmed was beaten up and forced out of the collation centre for opposing a wrong that was being perpetrated.

PDP insists it would not accept any result from last Saturday’s re-run election, saying it was not free and fair.
