Kaduna LG election: NSCDC promises adequate security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kaduna State command, on Thursday, assured Zazzau Emirate and residents of the state the corps was committed to safeguard lives and property during, and after the local government elections.

The commandants further reintegrated its commitment of ensuring peaceful polls in the state.

In a statement on Thursday by the State Public Relation Officer (CPRO ), DSC Orndiir Terzungwe, said the State Commandant, Godwin Miebi, made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness, Ahmad Nuhu Bamali

According to the statement, the command appreciated the enormous support from the Royal institution in peace building among the residents of the state and urged the royal father to sustain the tempo.

He said NSCDC Kaduna Command has deployed officers and men across all the 23 local government area to ensure peacefully and violence free polls during and after the election in the state.

He said, security agencies alone can hardly succeed without the support of members of the traditional institutions, adding that, “it is in recognition of this fact that I have come to seek the usual support of His Highness and members of your council “

“We are contributing our quota in synergy with other sister agencies to ensure that the challenges of insecurity bedeviling the state is drastically reduced.” the statement said

Miebi further explained, that NSCDC will not entertained any forms of misconduct during and after the polls across the state, while calling on youths to desist from thuggery, violence and warned them not to allowed themselves to be used by any politicians .

Responding, the Emir of Zazau expressed Satisfaction on the performance of the corps with other security organisations; most especially in his domain in spite of challenges of inadequate manpower and equipment.

The Royal father lamented, the rising incidences of banditry, kidnapping for ransom, describing the recent murder of pregnant woman in Zaria, as worrisome.

He also noted that perpetrators of such act must be brought to justice to face the full wrath of the law.

He said, the country is passing through a difficult period, saying that, the problem is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, but global in general.

He equally believed that, with concerted efforts of all stakeholders, locals in the community, they would overcome the current security challenges.

The Emir further stressed, the need for synergy and collaboration among security agencies and warned against rivalry among them, adding that together they shall win the war against insecurity in the country.
