Amid the ongoing political battle between former Governor of the state, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai and his successor, Senator Uba Sani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Kaduna State yesterday declared support for the governor.
Both Sani and el-Rufai have been having a frosty relationship leading to the recent probe of the el-Rufai administration by the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
The Kaduna APC stakeholders made their stand known during the Kaduna State APC Executive Committee meeting held at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall, Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna, where party chieftains passed a vote of confidence on the governor.
The meeting had in attendance the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, APC chairman in Kaduna State, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd); former governor of the state, Ramalan Yero; APC House of Reps members from Kaduna State, Hon. Muktar Chawai, Hon. Bashir Zubairu, Hon. Ahmed Mannir, and Hon. Bello El-rufai, and the Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Liman Dahiru, alongside all the APC members in the State House of Assembly, among others.
The Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Musa Krishi in a statement issued yesterday said the APC Deputy Vice Chairman, North West, Hon. Datti Garba Muhammad, moved a motion for a vote of confidence on Sani, and was seconded by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Barde.
He added that the motion was unanimously endorsed by the Kaduna APC leaders at the meeting.
He said: “APC Deputy Vice Chairman, North West, Hon. Datti Garba Muhammad, moved a motion for a vote of confidence on Governor Uba Sani, which was seconded by Hon. Yakubu Barde, a former House of Reps member for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency. The motion was unanimously endorsed by the Kaduna APC leaders at the meeting.”
Speaking, Abbas expressed optimism that the future of the APC in Kaduna was bright considering the caliber of people uniting within the state’s chapter of the party.
He assured the party faithful in the state that there would be no crack between him and Sani until the end of the governor’s reign in office.
Abbas reiterated his stance that through thick and thin, he would continue to give maximum support to Sani, adding that only Allah knows the strength of the relationship between him and the governor.
The Speaker also urged the governor not to give room for any crack between them, noting that the good relationship they enjoy would bring more developments and stability to Kaduna State.
While congratulating Sani for his successful one year in office, Abbas commended the governor for being relentless in uniting all ethnic and religious groups in the state.
Speaking on the ongoing constitution amendment by the National Assembly, the Speaker called on the people of Kaduna State and the six other North Western states to study the constitution and identify areas of review.
He noted that a platform would be provided for people to give their inputs in the build up to the final process.
On his part, Sani applauded the Speaker for recording remarkable achievements in his first year in office as Speaker, saying the House of Representatives was the most complex institution to lead in the country.
The governor assured members of the APC in the state that his government, jointly with the Abbas, would do everything possible to carry every member of the party along.
