Juventus are banking on Jurgen Klopp’s long-standing admiration of Aaron Ramsey playing a role in Liverpool’s decision to potentially launch a January bid of the former Arsenal star.

The Wales international has struggled to adapt to the demands of Italian football under a succession of managers since his high-profile free transfer two-and-a-half years ago.

Maurizio Sarri, Andrea Pirlo and Max Allegri have all struggled to find a place for the all-action midfielder in their sides and the 30-year-old has made just five appearances for his club this season.

The injuries which have regularly interrupted his career have also played a part in Ramsey’s failure to acclimatise and the struggling Turin giants, who suffered a humbling 4-0 defeat against Chelsea in midweek, are ready to listen to offers in January.

According to ESPN, Klopp considered making a move for Ramsey when he made the emotional decision to leave Arsenal in the summer of 2019 after 11 years at the club, during which he scored two memorable FA Cup final winning goals.

Klopp has been forced to contend with a midfield injury crisis this season with Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Thiago and James Milner all having been unavailable through injury for significant portions of the season already

Liverpool opted not to directly replace Gini Wijnaldum in the summer after he joined Paris Saint-Germain, and although Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has returned to form and fitness, Klopp was forced to field 19-year-old Tyler Morton in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Porto.

Ramsey has made no desire of his intent to succeed in Italy but with his playing options limited he could be on the move when the window re-opens.

Newcastle, Everton and even Crystal Palace, now managed by another Arsenal legend, Patrick Vieira, have all been credited with an interest in Ramsey, who scored twice in Wales’ recent 5-1 World Cup qualifying win over Belarus.
