Juventus have identified Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes as a possible replacement for Matthijs De Ligt, who is close to a move to Bayern Munich.

The Dutchman is in negotiations with the German giants and he looks certain to leave this summer, even if it is not to Bayern, with Manchester City and Chelsea also interested in the 22-year-old.

Wherever De Ligt ends up, the Turin side will need a replacement and Sky Sport Italia report that Gabriel has emerged as the most likely candidate for that role.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed two impressive seasons with Arsenal since arriving from Lille for a fee which could reach £27m.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has forged a partnership in central defence of Gabriel and Ben White and the Spaniard would be loathed to lose the Brazilian this summer.

The report from Italy suggests Gabriel would cost Juve €40m (£33.8m) this summer, although that seems like quite a conservative estimate given that he has three years left on his Arsenal contract and it would not amount to much of a profit for the Gunners.

Juventus are also interested in Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Torino’s Gleison Bremer and Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile.

However, Koulibaly is more likely to leave Serie A for Chelsea, Bremer is most likely to join Inter Milan and Badiashile appears to be an expensive gamble with Monaco asking for €30m (£25.3m) for the inexperienced 21-year-old.

Gabriel has made no suggestion that he is keen to leave Arsenal, but Juventus can offer Champions League football, which he is yet to experience with the Gunners.
