Justice Badejoko, Lekan Alabi and Others Advocate Support For Local Mediation and Reconciliation for  Judicial System

The  Shafaudeen  Islam worldwide has advocated support for local Mediation and Reconciliation for  Judicial system to compliment the conventional one, save cost and get acquinted to the local roots

The trio Prof Sabit A Olagoke, founder of Shafaudeen Islam worldwide,  Chief Lekan Alabi, Justice Mrs Badejoko Adeniji(rtd Chief justice of Oyo State) jointly postulated this module  at an event in Ibadan on Wednesday 22nd June 2022 during the official commissioning of the Ogunelu Aare Alasa Dynasty Mediation and Conciliation Centre at Oja Oba area of Ibadan.


This according to them would greatly eased the time and financial burden of patronising the conventional courts in search of judgment.
Justice Mrs Bolajoko however said such Reconciliation and Mediation Centre could only adjudicate in civil and exclusively family cases..

Highlight of the occasion includes official Turbaning of the Mogaji Esin Ogunelu Aare Alasa Dynasty Sheik Ismael Salahudeen, commissioning of OgunElu Aare Alasa Mediation and Conciliation Centre . The Chief host is Alhaji Engineer professor Sabit Olagoke, Arole OgunElu, Mogaji Aare Alasa.

Delivering the lecture titled, The Significance of Traditional way of Conflict Resolution (Igbejo) in the Judicial System, Justice Mrs Badejoko emphasized the importance of true justice and related it to the pre colonial era,when justice system was practiced in the traditional way.

While praising Professor  Olagoke for the initiative of bringing up the Centre, first of its kind in Ibadan, she said the center would ease the process of settling conflicts among family members.

She said ” The advantages of the Mediation and Conciliation Centre is that conflicts could be resolved without rancour even as it saves time and costs. All the bottlenecks encountered at the conventional courts are absent in the process of Mediation and Conciliation.

In his remarks while presenting the book: “The Root “,written by Prof Sabit Olagoke, to mark the occasion, Akogun Lekan Alabi, Maye Olubadan of Ibadan, advocated freedom of Religion and that religion should be seen as a medium of promoting national Reconciliation. He aligned with process of local Reconciliation and Mediation and equally praised Prof Sabit Olagoke for the initiative.

In his remarks, Prof Sabit Olagoke based the thrust of his message on love which is the symbol of peace in any given society.

He said the Centre was conceived to enable his people interact, bare their minds out and make the . calling for true Judicial system at the local level, abd seeking accountability as a panacea for good justice.

Present at the occasion were the Grand Amir Shafaudeen, Mrs S F Olagoke, President General Omo ajorosun club, Alhaji Abiiola Ali among many dignitaries
