Arsenal star Jurrien Timber marked his first game for over eight months with a spectacular wondergoal.

The defender moved from Ajax to the Emirates last summer in a deal worth £38.5million and made his debut in the Community Shield victory over Manchester City.

But he was forced off just 50 minutes into his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest last August after suffering an ACL injury which threatened to rule him out for the entire campaign.

Thankfully for Mikel Arteta and co., Timber has been working very hard on his rehabilitation and returned to action on Monday night, playing for the Arsenal U21s against Blackburn Rovers.

Given his time away, it would be understandable if the Dutch International took it easy on his return but that would not be the case.

With less than eight minutes played, the 22-year-old was played in on the left-hand side and after twisting and turning his marker curled in a sensational effort from the edge of the box perfectly into the top right corner.

His goal prompted wild celebrations from those in the stadium as well his Timber’s teammates, many of whom were in disbelief of the strike.

They weren’t the only ones with fans quick to serenade their forgotten star, with @iamchukaelc writing on Twitter: ‘That goal looks wicked. Timber can’t wait to play with the big boys.’

‘Absolute banger,’ @sideeqkolade posted, while @AFCLiferadded: ‘Back with a bang!’

HOW WE’VE MISSED JURRIEN THIS YEAR!!’ @racingblogger commentated.

And fans may not have to wait long to see Timber’s first-team return, as earlier on Monday, Arteta claimed that the defender could be back in time for Sunday’s North London derby against arch-rivals Tottenham.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Chelsea, the manager said: ‘That’s a quick step! Let’s see how he feels today.

‘He’s been training really good, he looks ready. He needs that exposure and after that we will assess whether that game comes in time or too fast. I will try to get him back with us for the final games.’
