About TechnoServe:

Everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future. This simple idea has been at the heart of work around the world for over 50 years. TechnoServe is a pioneer in leveraging the power of business and markets to create sustainable pathways out of poverty.

The low-income communities in which we work are full of enterprising people. Their small-scale farms and businesses are the keys to economic development. But they face many challenges: low literacy, lack of access to jobs and markets, unpredictable political dynamics and, increasingly, the effects of climate change. For many women and young people, the challenges are even more daunting. Working with TechnoServe staff, people around the world are lifting themselves out of poverty. The results are amazing…when incomes increase and living conditions for families get better, they can access health care and education previously out of reach. Communities and even whole countries are better off.

Job Summary:

The Senior Program Manager will manage a team of 14 people, to implement a 2-year project in Anambra and Lagos states, Nigeria and will be responsible for leading the overall implementation and providing day-to-day management and oversight throughout the entire duration of the program – from program set-up and diagnosis to capacity building and business advisory, access to grants and other finance, as well as creating an enabling environment for actors across the plastics market ecosystem. The Senior Project Manager will act as the key liaison with all counterparts, implementing partners, resource partners and other stakeholders involved with the project.

Program Overview:

Nigeria’s 200 million population generates an estimated 32 million metric tons of waste annually, with plastic accounting for 2.5 million metric tons. Less than 12% of plastic waste is recycled. The rest is dumped, incinerated, burned in open fields, or discarded into the Atlantic Ocean, causing immense climate and health risks. The project will aim to strengthen the capacity of an estimated 9,500 collectors, 24 aggregators, and 10 recyclers to recycle 49,000 MT of plastics, reducing plastic waste through improved business competitiveness, sustainability, profitability, and inclusive job creation, ultimately driving growth in the circular economy, for a cleaner, healthier Nigeria
