Our Client, a leading music streaming platform that focuses on African music with the mission is to provide music lovers with easy and legal access to a vast library of African songs, while also empowering African artists to reach a wider audience.

JOB PURPOSE

As the Senior Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to promote their brand, drive user acquisition and retention, and enhance engagement with our platform. You will lead a team of marketing professionals and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful campaigns across various channels. Your expertise in marketing strategy, campaign management, and data-driven decision-making will be essential in driving growth and strengthening the company’s position in the competitive music streaming industry.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans. Create comprehensive marketing strategies to promote their brand and services across West Africa. This includes identifying target markets, defining key messages, selecting appropriate marketing channels, and allocating resources effectively.
  • Build and manage partnerships. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key partners, such as Content Creators & Aggregators, Media Houses, and other commercially viable stakeholders in West Africa. Identify partnership opportunities, negotiate agreements, and ensure mutually beneficial collaborations.
  • Drive retention. Develop initiatives to enhance user engagement, improve customer experience, and increase user retention rates.
  • Enhance brand visibility and awareness. Increase brand awareness for the organization in the West African market. This involves implementing marketing campaigns, leveraging social media platforms, organizing events, and exploring innovative marketing techniques to maximize brand exposure.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends. Stay updated with the latest trends, developments, and competitive landscape within the West African music industry. Analyze market data, consumer insights, and competitor strategies to identify growth opportunities and adapt marketing strategies accordingly.

Other Responsibilities include;

Marketing Strategy Execution:

  • Create and execute innovative marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital advertising, social media, influencer partnerships, events, and offline activations, to raise awareness, drive engagement, and attract new users (with focus on Nigeria, Ghana & SA).
  • Identify target audiences, consumer insights, and market trends to inform marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align marketing strategies with product launches, partnerships, and other key company initiatives.
  • Drive content marketing efforts by collaborating with content creators and aggregators to curate a compelling and diverse catalog of music, playlists, podcasts, and other audio content on the platform. Develop and execute content marketing campaigns to engage users and drive content consumption.

Campaign Management:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, social media and offline channels.
  • Manage campaign budgets, timelines, and performance metrics to ensure campaign effectiveness and ROI.
  • Collaborate with creative teams and agencies to develop impactful marketing assets and messaging.

User Acquisition and Retention:

  • Develop and execute user acquisition strategies to drive new user growth.
  • Implement retention initiatives to increase user engagement and minimize churn.
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify opportunities for user segmentation and personalized marketing approaches.

Partnership Development, Revenue Generation and Monetization:

  • Develop and execute partnership opportunities to drive growth, increase user engagement, and enhance the content offering on the platform.
  • Identify and develop revenue generation opportunities through partnerships, including advertising, brand partnerships, and content monetization strategies.
  • Analyze partnership performance and identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and revenue optimization.
  • Explore revenue-sharing models or referral programs to incentivize cross-platform user acquisition and engagement.

Performance Analysis and Reporting:

  • Track and analyze key performance metrics related to partnership activities, such as user engagement, content consumption, and revenue generation.
  • Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate partnership performance, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize partnership strategies, identify areas for growth, and make informed decisions.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, content, and analytics, to drive alignment and deliver impactful marketing campaigns.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and user insights to inform marketing strategies and campaign development.
  • Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to measure marketing effectiveness and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in marketing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • Several years of experience in marketing, preferably in the technology or music industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for music and digital marketing.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, social media platforms, and advertising platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
