Job description: Job DescriptionPROJECT DESIGN LEADPurpose of Role:The Project Design Lead will be responsible for overseeing the design phase of various projects within our asset portfolio, ensuring alignment with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.Job responsibilities:

• Lead the design phase of upstream oil & gas projects, including conceptual design, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout the design process, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Ensure thorough documentation of design activities, progress reports, and technical specifications, maintaining accurate records for internal review and regulatory compliance.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and contractors, fostering collaboration, motivation, and professional development.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, including project managers, operations teams, and executives, to understand project requirements and objectives, and ensure alignment throughout the design phase.
• Identify potential risks and challenges during the design phase and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and compliance.
• Drive innovation and efficiency in project design processes, incorporating new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to optimize project outcomes.
• Monitor project budgets and schedules, identifying and addressing variances, and ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
• Implement robust quality assurance processes to maintain design integrity and consistency across projects, adhering to company standards and industry benchmarks.
• Collaborate with project team, external vendors, and contractors to procure materials and services, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS REQUIRED

• Technical expertise in upstream oil & gas project design, including facility layout, equipment selection, and process optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of upstream oil & gas operations, including drilling, production, and reservoir engineering principles.
• Proficiency in design software and tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SAP.
• Proficiency in engineering design principles, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and material science.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and industry standards e.g. including API, ASME, and ISO requirements, to ensure compliance and safety.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality, with a focus on delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of excellence.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering) or relevant field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project design and engineering, with a focus on upstream oil & gas assets
