Job description: BURN is the largest vertically integrated modern cookstove company in the world, providing world-class R&D, manufacturing, and carbon offset projects from our HQ in Kenya and across 10 countries in Africa. We are working to create a world where cooking positively impacts all life on earth by producing the world’s most efficient biomass, liquid fuel, and electric cookstoves. Our team of 900 people – 51% of whom are women – is on track to produce and sell over 150,000 stoves per month in 2022 at our solar-powered facility in Kenya.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Quality Inspector

Job Location: Kano

Employment Type: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and control quality as well as production volumes.
  • Check, Inspect and analyze Products against specification sheets.
  • Measure and record quality within the production floor
  • Write a daily quality report.
  • Ensure quality standards processes are followed keenly.
  • Escalate issues on the production floor to shift team leader.
  • Perform tests to ensure the quality of products.
  • Collect and record data on the production floor.
  • Work with the quality analysts in spec sheet development and improvement
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Lead from time to time.

Skills and Experience

  • At least 1-year of experience as a quality inspector
  • Technical skills and ability to understand blueprints, documents, and manuals.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies

2.) Quality Shift Supervisor

Job Location: Kano

Employment Type: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage daily schedules and employee shifts.
  • Coordinate with Production Team leaders, Engineering Technicians, and quality inspectors to resolve any arising quality issues for smooth operations.
  • Ensure in-process tests and procedures are carried out in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure up-to-date documentation in the assembly line only.
  • Ensure SOPs are followed keenly.
  • Provide improvements to SOPs.
  • Generate shift and handover reports.
  • Assist in process changes and oversee quality within the new processes.
  • Respond quickly to any crises that arise within the shift in a timely and practical manner.
  • Escalate quality issues to quality management.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the QC Lead from time to time.

Skills and Experience

  • Diploma in Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of experience in the Quality Control
  • Attentive and with a keen eye for detail.
  • Great analytical skills
  • Great Leadership skills
  • Excellent with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Technical skills and ability to understand blueprints, documents, and manuals.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.

2.) Quality Technician

Job Location: Kano

Employment Type: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the technical documents required for production meet document control and revision requirements.
  • Analyze data to identify trends in product quality or defects to mitigate and prevent recurrence and future defects.
  • Ensure that products meet the organization, customers’ quality, and product integrity requirements.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify root causes of problems in the production process; recommend and/or implement corrective measures.
  • Conduct an audit on jigs, tools, and equipment to ensure they are calibrated and up to date.
  • Identify possible areas for improvement in quality control processes.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 1-2 years of xperience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in conducting process audits under QMS will be an added advantage.
