In each of these programmatic areas, we partner with governments, communities, nonprofits and other stakeholders to generate holistic solutions, because we believe that every community deserves access to the types of tools that can enable them to lead healthier lives.Purpose of PositionThe Manager, Climate Resilience and Adaptation will play a pivotal role, providing technical leadership in the planning, design and implementation of innovative strategies aimed at strengthening the organizations climate adaptation in health programs. S/He will support the Program Manager working in collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to anticipate and mitigate the impacts of climate change on health and the environment as well as enhance resilience to climate-related risks and promote climate adaptive practices at national and sub-national levels across Nigeria and other eHA supported countries.What you’ll doTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:
- Develop and implement comprehensive climate resilience and adaptation strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of high impact climate adaptation related projects that are human centered and evidence-based.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities for climate adaptation across eHA projects, business units and operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate climate considerations into decision-making processes, policies, and practices.
- Stay abreast of climate science, trends, and regulations to inform strategic planning and risk management efforts.
- Foster partnerships with external organizations, government agencies, and community stakeholders to enhance collective resilience efforts.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of resilience initiatives and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Advocate for policies and investments that support climate resilience and adaptation at local, regional, and global levels.
- Stay informed about current research, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field of climate resilience/adaptation in health, incorporating new knowledge into program planning and implementation.
- Support new business development efforts including preparing reports, presentations, and grant proposals
- Active participation in relevant regional, national and sub-national technical working groups as well as other relevant coordination platform meetings.
- Support knowledge management and learning documentation activities including the development of manuscript, learning papers and high artifact reports
- May frequently travel between organization work-sites. Some international travel may be required.
- Adheres to eHealth Africa Code of Conduct, applicable policies & procedures, as well as ethical standards of the field.
Who you are:
- A Master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, climate studies, or related field. Relevant professional certification would be an added advantage
- Minimum of 8 years relevant experience, at least 3 years in a managerial role; NGO experience is an added advantage
- Proven experience in climate resilience planning, risk assessment, and adaptation strategy development.
- Strong understanding of climate science, including knowledge of climate modeling, projections, and scenario planning. Preferred
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Certification in climate resilience or related field is a plus
- Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) skills and communication (written and verbal) skills, including the ability to prepare and present compelling presentations and program planning and memo documents
- Strong organizational, analytical, reasoning, and research skills.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills with creative thinking capabilities
- Ability to work independently on complex projects and proactively manage projects with minimal supervision
- High level of confidentiality and knowledge of research ethics
- Strong leadership skills, including good problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire confidence in teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communications, with a strong aptitude for succinctly presenting thoughts and ideas to senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Action-oriented and resilient in a fast-paced environment.
