Job description: Under the USAID Inclusive Development Activity for Mission Support, Making Cents International is recruiting a Logistician to support a co-creation process and inclusive development analysis in Nigeria. The Logistician will first support the planning and implementation of a co-creation workshop planned for January 2024. Then, for the inclusive development analysis, the Logistician will provide planning, procurement, and logistics support, including coordinating travel, arranging venues and meetings, and maintaining an assessment schedule. The Logistician will work closely with the assessment team in Nigeria, including the Team Lead, Deputy Team Lead, and Researcher. Some travel within Nigeria may be required, depending on team needs.
Role and Tasks
The Logistician will work closely with the team in Nigeria, as well as remote team members, to provide administrative and logistical support. In both phases of the activity, the Logistician will also coordinate with USAID staff, implementing partner and Government of Nigeria representatives, and vendors as well as managing day-to-day logistics for in-person events and supporting the team’s coordination, scheduling, and communication with local stakeholders.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Review materials, including scope of work, draft agenda for events, meeting notes, and logistics materials
- Schedule and participate in regular check-in meetings
- Serve as main point of contact on venue, technology, logistics, and related coordination issues. Maintain communication among different stakeholders, raising questions or issues as needed
- Coordinate technology, participants speakers’ needs, and delivery of materials and manage inclusion or any other accommodation requests
- Manage week-of coordination related to workshop space set-up, coordinate with the venue, and respond to technology and logistical questions from participants and vendors
- Support notetaking for workshop and select meetings
- Support team in outreach to potential key informants and groups for data collection. Liaise between key informants and assessment team to set and maintain schedule
- Manage data collection logistics, such as arranging meetings or meeting spaces, coordinating with stakeholders, answering questions, and maintaining a team schedule
- Provide required logistical support to the team, including internet access during data collection activities and coordination of all hotel and transportation arrangements
- Accompany assessment team to research sites, if requested
- Manage and reconcile payments for all in-country expenses
- Complete other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Based in Nigeria
- High school degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience
- Proficient communicator in English with demonstrated ability to provide detailed notes in English
- Experience supporting similar activities in Nigeria, including providing logistical and planning support for in-person conferences, workshops, evaluations, and/or studies. Experience supporting USAID-funded work is preferred
- Knowledge of appropriate vendors and venues in Abuja and other Nigerian cities highly preferable
- Excellent attention to detail and reliability in completing assigned tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including among different stakeholders
- Experience with procurement and cost management reporting
Proposed Level of Effort
Maximum Level of Effort will be 5 days for the co-creation phase of work (with a workshop anticipated to take place in January) and 14 days for Inclusive Development Analysis data collection phase, with the majority of the work anticipated in March-April 2024. The overall timeline for this work is slated to start November 2023 and end in late June 2024.
