About Company: Our client is a leading Pharmaceutical Retail Company in Nigeria with several outlets nationwide and over 1000 employees.
The Company is seeking to hire a bright, organized, and tenacious individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment as its Legal Officer. This role will be required to deliver sound, timely legal support and advice to all departments across the business.
The Legal Officer will directly manage a team of Legal Analyst; and is responsible for their training and development.
Job Objective: This role will support all levels up to Executive and Board Level, in order to enable the delivery of the business’ objectives and execution of the Company’s strategy, whilst remaining commercially focused and managing risk.
The ideal candidate must have a good academic background and training as a qualified legal practitioner at a top law firm or large retail/FMCG organization, ideally with solid exposure to corporate and commercial law practice and exposure within retail or FMCG industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage the business legal team
Promote best legal practice and consistency across the business
Lead, develop, and motivate the legal team to deliver a value-added legal service while maintaining consistency, compliance, and high operational legal practices
Support the wider business and ensure buy-in at a senior level with new legal initiatives
Direct and manage any litigation to which the Company is a party, ensuring the effective handling and successful resolution of all disputes and negotiations
Provide legal support to any contractual agreement or commercial activities
Liaise and report to the Top management on compliance and risk
Oversee and take action on complex legal matters, assessing contentious and non-contentious issues and balancing in-house legal expertise against the need to seek managed external advice
Lead on all commercial legal matters that relate to the business.
Oversee compliance & and regulatory matters
Company Secretarial duties (Ensure necessary filings have been made with Companies House (confirmation statements, annual accounts) and Draft supporting board minutes where necessary.
Requirements
A university degree in Law (MSC optional)
Must be a Barrister of Law with 5+ years of relevant work experience within Retail/FMCG or any Top law firms.
Ability to conduct research in order to find information about laws, precedents, and other legal information.
Ability to prepare complex legal documents
Emotional intelligence and exceptional leadership skills
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Benefits
Compensation: Basic pay N500,000.00 monthly net + other interesting benefits
