Job description: About the RoleThe Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Junior Associate, DELIVER to support the implementation of project activities. This role will be offered on a three(3) year fixed term contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Abuja, Nigeria.DELIVER Nigeria (DEcent LIVelihoods for small-scale producers delivered through Economic & Resilient food systems in Nigeria) goal is to enhance the livelihoods and income of smallholder farmers, with a specific focus on empowering youth and women and fostering healthier dietary habits within the target population by promoting the increased consumption of a variety of vegetables.The project objectives include:
- Building the capacity of smallholder farmers to produce vegetables as a business and reduce postharvest loss, with a special focus on women and youth participation.
- Building the capacity of input suppliers to effectively support smallholder farmers to increase knowledge of business planning and finance options for smallholder farmers and to increase the quantity and diversity of vegetables consumed smallholder farmers.
The Junior Associate will support the implementation of project activities by providing general administrative support to the project coordinator.Key Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the documentation of the DELIVER project through preparation of documents, correspondence and report writing.
- Identifying and securing venues, preparation of budgets, raising of POs, securing approvals within GAIN, ensuring that all materials needed are reproduced, and facilitating the smooth running of workshops.
- Prepare, review, and modify documents including field activity reports and memos.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, workshops and appointments.
- Provide logistical support to the project including travel itineraries and costs.
- Support other Program activities as and when required.
About youThe ideal candidate should have proven experience in providing support to projects through basic budgeting and report writing. You should be experienced in providing administrative support across different functions such as procurement, logistics and workshop planning and travel support.The position holder should be organised, proactive and possess good judgement. You should demonstrate creativity in problem solving and strong communication skills. Excellent writing skills are required with knowledge of MS Office Suite. An education background in Nutrition, Food Science or another relevant field is necessary.About our OfferThe starting gross salary on offer for this role is from NGN 5’505’156 – NGN 6’277’812 gross per annum, depending on experience.GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
