Job description: PalmPay is a pan-African fintech company currently operating in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania and expanding to other markets this year. We are reinventing the payments experience by making it easy and reliable for everyone to transfer money, pay bills and shop online.

As the Head of IT Operations, you will directly oversee technology infrastructure and operations within Palmpay Limited. You will lead a team of IT professionals to ensure excellent functioning, IT systems & process scalability and security to enable the organization deliver fast, efficient and reliable financial services.

Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management in developing and executing the IT operations strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives and growth plans.
• Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud services, ensuring high availability and security.
• Team Management: Lead and manage the IT operations team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and mentoring of staff.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure that all IT systems and processes adhere to industry best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements to protect sensitive financial and private data.
• Technology Upgrades and Innovations: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in fintech and IT operations, recommending and implementing improvements where appropriate.
• System Maintenance: Establish and enforce best practices for system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance performance.
• Budgeting and Cost Optimization: Manage the IT operations budget effectively, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize IT resources to maximize efficiency.
• Vendor Management: Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, manage service levels, and ensure timely issue resolution
• Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as product development and compliance, to support business initiatives and deliver seamless IT solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Master’s degree is an added advantage
• Minimum of 6years proven experience in IT operations management, preferably in the fintech industry.
• In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, cloud technologies, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with financial services regulations and compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
