In a $31tn FMCG market, with over 1 million manufacturers, 20m distributors and wholesalers and over 500m independent retailers, less than 3% of the B2B trading is currently done online. Our mission is to grow global online commerce for the world’s small businesses by removing the barriers to online trading.
Currently, due to antiquated and high-cost payment networks, over $19tn of trade payments are made offline, adding complexity and inconvenience to online trading. This has resulted in local retailers, who directly influence >80% of local consumer buying behaviour, often being the least technically equipped with data, pricing, or the latest inventory.
So we built an Open Commerce Platform that enables the sale and distribution of FMCG products to be made much simpler. Products should be in front of sellers fast, in real-time, through an immersive commerce experience, with trade buyers and sellers able to see live commerce opportunities and pricing. We have built a digital ecosystem that is specifically designed to unlock the full value of the distribution network, providing real-time visibility for order and inventory management. Our innovative platform provides brands and distributors with deep data insights into buyer trends and behaviours and helps identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling products.
What you will be doing
Financial Control
- Delivery of monthly management accounts including balance sheet reconciliation, and calculation of accruals and prepayments
- Defining a roadmap for a system-based control framework along with the other members of the Finance Team and owning the Implementation
- Support with overseeing accounting function in other subsidiaries
- Assist with annual audit, ensuring all queries resolved in a timely manner
- Ensure good financial control and data integrity is maintained within the finance department
Business Partnering
- Assisting with company-wide budgeting and maintenance of company business model
- Business partnering with local teams
- Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis
- Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to upper executives
- Assisting with any other tasks
Payroll
- Liaising with payroll company for finalisation of monthly payroll and preparation of payroll reconciliations
- Set up of monthly payroll and payment of expenses
Treasury Operations
- Manage bank relationship, including negotiations of fees, opening and closing accounts, integration of software
- Liaise with FX partners and manage FX operations
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
- Manage the Accounts Payable function
- Reconciliation of suppliers’ accounts on a monthly basis, prior to any payments made
- Preparation of weekly payment runs
- Invoicing for Nigeria
What you should have:
- BCom, Bcom Hons or CA (SA) qualified with 4 years post qualification experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding and dynamic environment
- Proven experience in monthly management accounts production
- A proactive and commercial mindset with exceptional communication skills
- Strong MS PowerPoint and MS Excel skills, experience building macros is preferred but not required
- Proficient at using accounting software, ideally Xero or Netsuite
- Keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
