And we’d love your help!The position:As a Finance and Accounting Specialist, you’ll be part of the growing Finance team, ensuring we create a digitally enabled finance function that prepares accurate books and records of the company and uses financial data to challenge the business and contribute to operational decision-making.Your primary duties will include working on preparing and posting journal entries into our general ledger, QuickBooks Online (QBO), reconciling bank statements, managing accounts payable, payroll, tax compliance, and ensuring data accuracy.This role is full-time and will be based in Lagos. Please ensure you are permitted to legally work in Nigeria, as we will not provide a work visa. You will report to our finance manager.The accountant will:Month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing
Monthly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis
Consolidation, inter-company / related party transactions and reconciliations, including foreign currency accounting
Bank account reconciliations
Perform daily and weekly revenue recognition and cost optimisation exercises
Overseeing processing of payables, including vendor payments, payroll, and tax compliance
Work with external auditors to perform the annual audit in Nigeria
Provide monthly management reportInterface with team members in various departments, including the engineering, operations, and health care teams
Oversee expense management and ensure proper GL coding and processing of expenses in QBO
Support overall departmental goals and objectives
Fulfil other ad-hoc finance requests as requested by managementRequirementsYou have minimum 5 years accounting experience within a multinational business or top tier accounting firm, and have mastery of IFRS accounting standards (US GAAP a plus)
You are highly proficient in MS or Google productivity tools
You have fantastic written and spoken communication skills
You are able to work collaboratively across departmental functions
You have strong knowledge of internal controls and financial reporting
You have the appetite to jump headfirst into a fast-moving, fast- growing, mission-driven team that values creativity and output
You have the ability to turn data sets into meaningful insights
have a CPA, CA, or ACCA qualification (or similar accounting qualification for your jurisdiction)While this is NOT strictly required, it would be a plus if you:Have previous experience in the social enterprise or healthcare startup
Have experience with QBO
