Job description: Director of Engineering – Luxury Five Star Hotel, Abuja, NigeriaOur client operates one of the leading hotels in West Africa offering over 400 luxury rooms, Banqueting for up to 2,500 guests, and multi food and beverage outlets. They are now looking for an experienced, professional Director of Engineering to join them and oversee the engineering function of the property as well as assist with the current ongoing renovations of the property. Candidates must have extensive prior experience in projects and refurbishments.This is a challenging role in a challenging environment and the successful candidate will be a solid all rounder who has preferably held a pre-opening role in a five star Hotel and is comfortable working in large luxury properties. The role requires a well balanced, calm individual who is used to operating under pressure and who is extremely hands on. The successful candidate will be highly knowledgeable in all Engineering disciplines including civil, mechanical and electrical, plumbing, HVAC, WTP and pool maintenance, fire alarm and fire fighting systems and lighting automation systemsKey attributes / Skills
- Prior African experience is a pre-requisite for this role with exposure in remote or hardship locations being a distinct advantage
- Calm and collected in personality with excellent decision making skills
- Must have held a similar position in a reputable four of five star Hotel with at least three years background as a Director of Engineering or Assistant Director of Engineering
- Willing to go the extra mile and work long hours if required
- Solid all round Engineering background with excellent knowledge in generators, water plants and HVAC
- Must hold a relevant Engineering qualification and display stability in their last three positions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing English
- Must be a self starter who is confident, self motivated and has a ‘Can Do’ attitude – the client is looking for someone who makes things happen and gets the job done
- Experienced in working with multinational contractors and creating BOQs for refurbishment projects and handling project meetings and project progress reports
- Excellent organisational skills, detail oriented and used to managing a diverse multi-cultural team
- Must be a good trainer and motivator
- Ability to act with integrity and professionalism at all times
- Computer literate – AutoCAD, Excel, Powerpoint and Word

- Salary - US$5,000 net per month
