Job description: Migo Money Inc is a cloud-based platform that enables companies to offer credit to their consumer and small business customers. Leveraging proprietary datasets, Migo builds ML algorithms to assess credit risk, and then offers credit lines to the companies’ customers. This credit line can be used to make purchases from a merchant or to withdraw cash without the need for point-of-sale hardware or plastic cards.   • We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Compliance Manager to join our team.
  • The Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and implementing all aspects of regulatory compliance within the organisation.
  • The successful candidate will ensure that we operate in adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, while also fostering a culture of integrity and ethical behavior.
  • This position can be worked remotely from anywhere in Nigeria!

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with Nigerian laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor changes in fintech and credit bureau regulatory requirements and assess their impact on our operations. Keep abreast of emerging compliance trends and issues in the credit bureau industry.
  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits to identify potential areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries, examinations, and audits. Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and implement recommendations as necessary.
  • Monitor and investigate compliance incidents, breaches, and complaints. Develop and implement remedial actions to address findings and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on compliance-related matters, including but not limited to, data protection, anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), and consumer protection regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that compliance requirements are integrated into business processes and systems effectively.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees to enhance awareness and understanding of compliance obligations.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings accurately and within prescribed deadlines.
  • Cultivate a culture of compliance and integrity across the organization through effective communication, training, and awareness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Advanced Degree or professional certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance management or a similar role within the financial services industry, preferably in a credit bureau or financial institution.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to, data protection, AML, KYC, and consumer protection regulations applicable to fintechs and credit bureaus in Nigeria.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs, policies, and controls.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and compliance management software/tools.
