Our client is an energy service provider that offers engineering design and construction services, power and renewable energy, oilfield supplies, environmental and laboratory services, and power and energy services in Nigeria with an office in Victoria Island.
The Company is seeking to hire an experienced Commodity Trading Analyst who will be responsible for performing in-depth market analysis and research, developing and implementing trading strategies in order to optimize commodity options, and exploring opportunities for initiating and expanding client base and market presence.
The ideal candidate for this role must have a solid background in the supply chain management of the oil and gas industry with a focus on trading and business development and will also be a key contributor to the company’s growth and revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a business network for oil buyers and sellers.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of global commodity markets, with a primary focus on crude oil, bulk petroleum products, natural gas, and liquified petroleum gas.
- Monitor and report on market trends, price movement, and key market indicators on local and international media platforms.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on market research to inform trading strategies.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize commodity trading operations.
- Assess and manage risk factors associated with trading positions.
- Execute spot buying, futures, or options transactions effectively
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients and stakeholders within the oil and gas marketplace.
- Explore opportunities for initiating and expanding client base and market presence.
- Prepare and present compelling proposals to attract new business partners.
- Oversee various aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, importation, shipping, and logistics.
- Ensure smooth operations related to depot management and transactions.
- Collaborate with international traders and relevant government agencies to facilitate trade.
- Secure all necessary permits, licenses, and import documentation to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions, contracts, and import documentation.
- Prepare and submit daily and monthly reports to senior management regarding trading activities, tenders, sales, procurement, and market conditions.
- Provide timely updates on market trends based on Bloomberg, Reuters news, and other related online platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or any other relevant field of study.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in commodity trading, with a focus on oil and gas.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful trading strategies.
- Excellent negotiation, risk management, and business development skills.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the commodity trading sector.
- Proficiency in using trading platforms and software.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain client relationships, and exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Benefits
Compensation: Base pay ranges BTW N400, 000.00 – N500,000.00 monthly + other interesting benefits
