Job Description
The Bursar will have the following responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the commerce and revenue generation initiatives for the institution, with a focus on driving profitability and sustainable growth.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop and execute strategic plans that align with the institution’s vision and objectives.
- Harness your strong team leadership abilities to inspire and guide a diverse team of professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Implement forward-thinking strategies to drive innovation and continuous improvement, positioning the institution as a market leader in the education sector.
- Leverage your extensive experience in a university or learning centre environment, with a demonstrated ability to generate revenue and effectively manage commercial operations.
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager, reporting into this role, to align efforts and maximise revenue-generating opportunities.
- Evaluate market trends and identify untapped opportunities to expand the institution’s reach and revenue streams.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, industry leaders, and educational institutions to drive collaborative growth initiatives.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the executive team, highlighting key performance indicators and progress towards revenue targets.
- Embrace an innovation mindset, consistently exploring new avenues for growth and staying ahead of industry developments.
The Successful Applicant
The successful incumbent for the Bursar role must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in operations, finance, and commerce, with a focus on revenue generation.
- Track record of success in driving revenue growth within a learning institution or educational setting.
- Strong team leadership and strategic abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, driving innovation and change.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Results-oriented with a keen eye for identifying and capitalising on market opportunities.
- Candidate should currently be in or willing to relocate to Nigeria for this exciting opportunity.
