The team you would Join:

Sun King’s Finance provides financial expertise to the distribution partnerships (B2B) and direct-to-consumer (B2C) sales channels as well as the financial operations of the company overall.

The Finance team plays a critical role in managing revenue and accounting for the company’s pay-as-you-go (PAYG) direct solar financing and wholesale distribution businesses; in ensuring compliance with local tax and reporting regulations; and in reporting to investors and servicing the company’s financing and debt obligations.

About the role

we are looking for a Tax, Compliance, and Regulatory Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring Sun king’s adherence to local and international tax regulations, industry-specific compliance requirements, and regulatory standards in Nigeria, Togo and Cameroon. This position involves developing and implementing effective tax strategies, overseeing compliance initiatives, and staying abreast of regulatory changes. You will work in partnership with cross-functional teams, external auditors, and government agencies across the West and Central Africa to mitigate risks and drive a culture of compliance within the organization.

What you would be expected to do:

1. Tax Management:

  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position across West and Central Africa.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including income tax, VAT, WHT,
  • Transfer Pricing and other applicable taxes in Nigeria, Togo and Cameroon.
  • Conduct thorough research on tax laws and regulations, providing guidance on their
  • impact on Sun king across the West and Central Africa region.

2. Compliance Oversight:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws and regulations relevant to the industry.
  • Establish and maintain compliance policies and procedures, conducting regular internal audits to assess adherence.
  • Work with legal and finance teams to address compliance issues promptly.

3. Regulatory Affairs:

  • Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements affecting the business.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure timely submissions and approvals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies to facilitate communication.

4. Risk Management:

  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, developing and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and advise management on the impact of emerging compliance issues.

5. Internal Communication:

  • Educate and train employees on compliance policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal queries related to tax, compliance, and regulatory matters.

6. External Communication:

  • Represent the company during tax audits and regulatory inspections in Nigeria, Togo and Cameroon.
  • Engage with external auditors and legal counsel to address compliance issues and provide required documentation.

7. Cross-Functional Partnership:

  • Work with finance, legal, and other departments to ensure a holistic approach to tax and compliance management.
  • Ensure business units to ensure complies with industry-specific regulations.

You might be a strong candidate if you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. CPA, ACA, ACTI or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Proven experience 8 years in tax management, compliance, or regulatory affairs.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws, compliance standards, and regulatory frameworks across the West and Central Africa region
  • Be very good with numbers and pay attention to details and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
