Our client is a leading grocery retail chain that provides a wide variety of household items that cater for all income strata with outlets in several locations across Nigeria.
The Company is currently seeking to hire a result-driven Area Manager who will direct and observe the functions of a cohort of stores.
Job Summary: As the Area Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the stores under your supervision. You will work closely with the COO to develop and implement strategic plans, improve operational efficiency, and drive business growth.
Job Responsibilities:
Evaluate existing operations and develop appropriate strategies.
Formulate fruitful business development strategies to ensure long-term success.
Set standards and objectives for different stores and departments.
Optimize and oversee operations to ensure efficiency.
Lead a team of store managers towards effective collaboration and attainment of goals.
Undertake sound financial management to ensure stores are profitable and stay within budget.
Ensure compliance with the company’s policies and operational guidelines.
Deal with problems by providing creative and practical solutions.
Evaluate performance using key metrics and address issues to improve it.
Report to senior executives on progress and issues.
Train store managers in effective sales and supervisory techniques.
Create and communicating sales targets at regular intervals.
Monitor sales across stores to check that quotas are met.
Detect, investigate, and remedy discrepancies in sales across stores, if required.
Collaborating with other Area Managers to ensure that operations are consistent across the board.
Traveling to stores to conduct your duties on-site, as needed.
Informing your manager of progress and pitfalls on a regular basis.
Assist upper management in decisions for expansion or acquisition.
Requirements
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, retail management or a related field.
6+ years experience as area manager in a retail setting or a similar environment.
Knowledge of performance evaluation metrics and principles.
Sound understanding of optimization of store operations and standards for success.
Working knowledge of ERP software.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
Strong business acumen with a strategic orientation.
Capacity to lead with poise and conviction.
Ability to devise relevant and innovative strategies.
Strong supervisory, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Benefits
Compensation: Base pay is 450k monthly (slightly negotiable) plus other interesting benefits
