Jamie Redknapp labelled Manchester United star Casemiro a ‘serial offender’ after he was hauled off at half-time in Sunday’s clash at Luton Town.

The Brazilian picked up a yellow card after 34 minutes at Kenilworth Road and followed it up with a series of questionable challenges before the break.

Casemiro was arguably lucky to avoid a second yellow for recklessly sliding in late on Ross Barkley from behind, much to the anger of Luton’s players and fans.

United boss Erik ten Hag decided to bring off the 31-year-old for the second half to avoid the Red Devils being reduced to 10 men.

‘Yeah, this is a no-brainer,’ former Liverpool star Redknapp told Sky Sports about Ten Hag’s call to substitute Casemiro.

‘He’s already been booked, he’s a serial offender, he kept fouling time and time again.

‘He got away with it and he was very lucky. He could have got sent off right at the end.

‘Once you’ve done that (been booked) you can’t commit fouls. You can’t make challenges like that.

‘He gets so lucky. It could have been a (second) booking.’

Gary Neville, watching Casemiro’s challenge on Barkley, said on commentary duties: ‘He’s not going for his card despite Luton players urging him to do so… He is lucky!’
