Jadon Sancho has deleted the explosive message he posted in the wake of Manchester United’s defeat to Arsenal earlier this month in which he hit out at Erik ten Hag.

Player and manager were involved in a public spat last week when the Dutch coach claimed Sancho had not been included in his matchday squad at the Emirates due to his less-than-impressive performances in training.

Later that evening, the 23-year-old took to social media platform X – formerly known as Twitter – to hit out at his manager’s claims, saying he had been made a ‘scapegoat’.

Sancho’s outburst caused quite a stir and there were even suggestions United might try to offload the former Borussia Dortmund winger to Saudi Arabia before their transfer window closed.

A move never materialised, however, and Sancho reported to the club’s Carrington training base on Monday for the first time since the drama unfolded.

Players not involved in international fixtures had been given time off after the Arsenal defeat, meaning Sancho and Ten Hag avoided a run-in until the start of this week.

They are believed to have held crunch, clear-the-air talks to discuss Sancho’s public outburst, their relationship and, ultimately, the winger’s future at the club under Ten Hag.

For now, Sancho appears to have climbed down and deleted his message on X late on Tuesday afternoon, with the tweet no longer anywhere to be seen. His most recent message is now a pre-season tweet from 6 August.

Sancho has been included in United’s Champions League squad despite the fallout while Antony’s leave of absence has only heightened the need for Ten Hag to mend bridges given his lack of options on the right wing currently.

Although Sancho has deleted his criticism of Ten Hag – and the pair have now spoken privately about the matter – he is still thought to be keen to leave Old Trafford and could explore a move when the January window opens.

In the wake of Ten Hag saying his performances in training were not at the level required, Sancho had tweeted: ‘Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

‘I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.

‘I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!’
