Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall were pulled apart by security after clashing in a tense press conference ahead of their April rematch.

Taylor defended his undisputed super-lightweight titles against Catterall two years ago on hugely controversial night in Glasgow.

The defending champion was knocked down in the eighth round with Catterall turning in the best performance of his career only to walk away on the wrong end of a split decision defeat.

The two will meet again in a bitter grudge match on 27 April in Leeds with the two attending a press conference to launch the fight on Monday afternoon.

After swapping barbs on stage, the rivals came face-to-face on stage with Catterall wrapping his hand around Taylor’s neck with the Scot responding with a shove before security waded in.

Promoter Eddie Hearn called the two back on stage for a final photo opportunity where Taylor continued to goad the Chorley fighter.

Catterall appeared to aim a final swipe at Taylor which the former world champion managed to swerve before the two men were pulled to either end of the stage again.
