Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Saturday assured that his administration is determined to provide platforms for discussions that can empower youths and women to make a positive impact in their lives for the growth and development of the state.
The governor gave the assurance while addressing youth groups that visited him at the Government House, Bauchi, to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day in the state.
Mohammed, who was represented by his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a greater Bauchi State through the transformation of education, healthcare and other critical sectors for youth development.
He encouraged schools, colleges, and universities to incorporate sustainability into their curricula.
This, Mohammed said, would enable the institutions of learning to provide education that will enable the youth to become useful and productive members and leaders of the society to them.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s International Youth Day, “Green Skills for Youth”, the governor said it is not only apt but also holds immense significance for our present and future generations.
According to Mohammed, “It simply reminds us of our collective responsibility as young people to offer our quota towards ensuring an environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly state and a country that will allow us to achieve our economic growth and development.
“Our environment is facing numerous challenges, including climate change, deforestation, air and water pollution. These issues demand immediate action, and it is you, the youth who have the power to make a difference.
“I urge you to acquire skills that will empower you to mitigate the impact of human activities on the environment.”
Speaking earlier, the state representative in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Hajiya Hauwa Hassan Musa, appreciated Mohammed for providing opportunities for young people to participate in the governance of the state.
