Israeli airstrikes in northern Lebanon killed Hamas commander Saeed Attallah Ali, his wife, and their two daughters at their home in the Beddawi camp near Tripoli on Saturday.
This marks the first reported strike in the area since the Gaza war erupted nearly a year ago, according to Al Jazeera.
Israel has broadened its military operations in Lebanon, moving beyond the border areas and targeting regions further inland.
Explosions were reported early Saturday in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Before the strikes, residents in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold, were reportedly warned, though the number of civilians who evacuated remains unclear.
The escalation follows Israeli strikes on Friday that targeted Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in southern Beirut, claiming to have killed senior military figures. Additionally, Israeli forces struck a mosque near Salah Ghandour Hospital in southern Lebanon, which they claimed was being used as a command centre by Hezbollah.
