The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on Wednesday, launched a training session on automated passport application for the passport control officers and enrolment officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
Tunji-Ojo disclosed this in a statement through his official X handle.
The Minister stressed that the commencement of automated passport applications is possible starting from January 8, 2024.
He wrote: “Today, I declared open the training on automated passport application for Passport Control Officers and Enrolment Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
“With the commitment and dedication displayed by service officers, launching the automation process on Monday, January 8, 2024, is possible.”
Recall that the Minister announced the commencement date for automated passport applications two days ago.
The development, if implemented, will end the delay in passport issuance.
