The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has deployed additional Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in Jigawa State.
The state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Muhammad Lawan Bashar, stated this while briefing newsmen on the commission’s readiness for the presidential election.
He said the commission in Jigawa State has received 4,580 BVAS for the conduct of the 2023 general election at 4,419 polling units in the state.
“A total number of 4, 580 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices and other election materials have been despatched to all the polling units across 27 local governments areas in the state.
“Also, an additional 300 BVAS was deployed and distributed in case of any technical problems.”
Bashar explained that two card readers will be deployed to each of the 61 polling units that have a threshold of more than 1,250 voters to ease congestion and voting.
He said over 2.2 million voters are expected to vote for their choice of a presidential candidate.
The REC noted that the commission has been up and doing to ensure that all activities of the commission are fully executed according to the law and ethics of the commission.
