INEC Declares APC Winner of Edo Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo,has won the Saturday’s Edo State governorship election as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

APC candidate    Monday Okpebholo polled 292,667 votes while  Asue Ighodalo  scored 247, 274 votes

Meanwhile, the results from all 18 local government areas of the state showed that APC won 11 LGAs compared to the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party.

Okpebholo garnered 291,667 votes while Ighodalo and Akpata had 247,274 and 18,737 votes respectively.

This is as the PDP candidate won Seven LGAs in the state.

The votes come from a total of 2.2 million voters with permanent voter cards across the 18 Local Government Areas and 4,519 polling units in Edo State.

The winner of the election will take over Osadebe House in Edo State from the outgoing Godwin Obaseki.
