The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), has released Nigerian musician, Oladapo Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name D’banj, after being detained for three days.
Recall the singer was detained on Tuesday night December 6, when he appeared before the commission to respond to inquiries about his alleged role in the fraudulent diverting of funds intended for the N-Power project, an empowerment initiative launched by the Nigerian government in 2016 to combat youth unemployment and advance social development.
The ICPC had released a statement earlier to clear the air that the singer was not under arrest and was only invited for questioning.
After three days of interrogation, he was released today, December 9.
The singer’s attorney, Pelumi Olajengbesi, confirmed his release saying he was let go on self-recognition but didn’t confirm if he was on administrative bail.
He said;
“Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him”
