Ibrahim Chatta’s Film Village: A Major Tourist Attraction

A steady stream of visitors, tourists, and culture enthusiasts from both within Nigeria and abroad are flocking to Chatta’s expansive Film Village in Oyo. Recently, the site welcomed esteemed guests, including veteran stage actor and media guru High Chief Tola Adeniyi, along with film producer, broadcast journalist, and former Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Yemi Farounbi.

The proprietor of the Village, actor Ibrahim Chatta, along with several colleagues who were on set for Odunlade Adekola’s upcoming film, warmly received the guests. Chief Tola Adeniyi, who serves as the Executive Chairman of the Tola Adeniyi Foundation for Theatre and the Arts (TAFTA), and Dr. Yemi Farounbi were given an extensive tour of the impressive 74.5-acre site, which is equipped with state-of-the-art gadgets and equipment for modern film production.

The Village features a variety of amenities, including horses and donkeys, a costume production center, restaurants, guest chalets, and multiple buildings showcasing African traditional motifs. Both Adeniyi and Farounbi expressed their amazement at the scope of work completed thus far, as well as the ambitious plans for future phases of development.

During their visit, discussions unfolded between the guests and Ibrahim Chatta regarding the Village’s vision and potential areas for collaboration. Chatta revealed plans for a man-made lake, an Olympic-size golf course, and viewing centers adorned with restaurants, all aimed at enhancing the Village’s appeal.

Interest in the Film Village has extended beyond Nigeria, with several countries in Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean recognizing it as a prime location for film production. As a result, the Village is beginning to attract local and international tourists alike.

Notable figures present during the visit included Fokoko, Adebayo Salami (a.k.a. Oga Bello), Odunlade Adekola, Madam Saje, Abiola, Muka Ray Eyiwumi, and numerous other actors who were busy on set. Before their departure, prayers were offered for the two esteemed octogenarian guests, concluding a memorable visit.
