Arsenal legend Ian Wright admits Eddie Nketiah was lucky to avoid a red card for his foul on Guglielmo Vicario during the north London derby.

The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates on Sunday with two goals from Spurs star Son Heung-min.

But Mikel Arteta’s side were arguably lucky to have 11 players on the pitch when Nketiah put in a nasty challenge on Tottenham goalkeeper Vicario.

‘I think it was one where it is fortunate, simply because the ball is gone,’ Wright told Match of the Day.

‘He was totally committed. I don’t know if it was frustration, because of how the game was going for him.

‘He had one shot on target today. I don’t know if it is frustration. When you look at the ball, he was very fortunate to stay on. He got away with one there.’

Wright also highlighted Arsenal’s goalscoring problems and has urged his former side to be more clinical if they are to have any hope of landing the Premier League trophy.

‘If you are going to chase down Man City, the chances you are creating, you have to take them,’ Wright added.

‘We’re talking about margins and 2-0 makes it a different game. We’d have seen a different kind of Spurs.’

Arsenal return to action on Wednesday when they travel to face Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
