The newly-elected senator for Taraba South senatorial district, David Jimkuta said his victory will forever remain indelible in his mind.
“I feel good defeating a sitting governor,” he stated.
The senator-elect who stated this on Tuesday while fielding questions from newsmen at the premises of the state Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Jalingo, urged his party’s faithful to close ranks in order to achieve the same result in the governorship election.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, senator-elect defeated by a wide margin the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who happened to be the incumbent governor of the state.
The results of the senatorial election declared on Monday saw Jimkuta clinching the position with total votes of 85, 415 to defeat Governor Ishaku of the PDP who scored 45,708 votes.
Taking his victory as a good omen, Jimkuta is optimistic APC will win the governorship election in Taraba State.
Gov. Ishaku not only lost his senatorial ambition to the APC upstart but also lost his polling unit to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
