How Nigeria Falcons Lost To Morocco on Penalty Kicks By Eniola Olatunji

Nigeria on Monday lost the semifinals of the African Women Nations Cup by whiskers to Morocco 5-4 on penalty kicks after playing 1-1 at full time.

The Nigerians had lost two important players to straight red cards for stamping on their opponents thereby playing nine to eleven players.

Morocco lost several chances that would have roasted the Nigerians which clearly shows that the country which will be going to their first world cup needs more exposure.

It was a big shame that Morocco allowed Nigeria to hold them for 56 minutes (26 of regular time and 30 minutes of extra time) but were instead putting pressure on the Ref to give them penalty kicks and review VAR for almost every move, a chance they can never get at the world cup.

Morocco will play South Africa on Sunday in the finals while Nigeria will play Zambia without Ajibade and Halimat in the fight for a bronze.
Many Nigerians expressed bitterness against the nation’s power supply companies for cut in public power supply and felt the Ref from Mauritania had programmed Morocco to qualify for alleged bias calls.

Many Nigerians who called in to us gave kudos to the Super Falcons for being worthy ambassadors of Nigeria despite alleged hostilities.
Thus the defending Champions hope of winning the trophy for the tenth time is kept I view but Morocco has never been in the finals. Their fumbling and wobbling to the finals could be an advantage for South Africa to lift the trophy.
