In the town of Elandsrand, Brits,in South Africa an incident unfolded on 23 November 2023, as the lifeless and semi-decomposed body of 19-year-old Gontse Faith Makhubela was discovered on a desolate dumping site.
The grim discovery of her dismembered body has left the community in shock and mourning.
According to reports, a security officer, disturbed by the gruesome sight, promptly contacted the South African Police Service (SAPS) to report the heinous crime.
The officer provided vital information leading the authorities to the horrific scene where Gontse’s remains were found. It is a distressing detail that both of her hands were allegedly severed, and her lifeless body had been allegedly set ablaze. Nearby, an alleged discovery of a butcher’s knife added a sinister layer to the tragic discovery.
The sequence of events leading to this horrific end began when Gontse Makhubela was reported missing by her family on 21 November. The last time anyone saw her was as she left her workplace.
The community is left grappling with grief, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the brutal murder of the young woman. The absence of justice compounds the sorrow felt by Gontse’s family and the community at large.
