Without equivocation, I believe Amotekun is about the greatest positive that could happen in the Southwest. Our political leaders are highly commended.
But, this is only to the extent that it is going to be just a stepping stone to securing the Zone/Region. Why?
The Zone is going to be secured only when jobs are created for our teeming youths. Proper jobs are created through Manufacturing and Industrial Production: provision of power, industrial infrastructure for manufacturing, mechanized agriculture and agro-allied activities, functional transportation network, etc.
The real AMOTEKUN comes up when our political leaders in the Zone rally to graduate the current programme to this level.
Just imagine the number of jobs that would be created, for a start if every “Toyota” car is assembled (even) in the Zone; while some of the parts are herein manufactured?
Of course, concerted efforts must be made to work on our constitution, to get most items in the exclusive list to the concurrent list.
