It is time for the South and the Southwest to unite and to expel the Fulani Herdsmen and the Boko Haram terrorists from our territory.
The terrible murder of Dr. Fatai Aborode and the speculated Order of arrest for Sunday Igboho by the IG have exemplified the senselessness and the illogicality of the Buhari-led Federal Government of Nigeria as I would explain in a moment with the remaining paragraphs of this comment.
OFN meaning Operation Feed the Nation has remained one of the Cardinal programs of the Federal Government of Nigeria since the Murtala/Obasanjo Administration from July 29, 1966.
I know what I am talking about. I was a senior administrator of the Federal Civil Service of Nigeria for 25 years of my prime from 1968, so you are hearing from the horse’s mouth.
It was because of the Government emphasis on Agriculture and Farming for sustenance that General Olusegun Obasanjo after taking over following the assassination of Murtala Mohammed who had survived for only 200 days in power, had focused on Agriculture like a laser beam as I recall
The General has embarked on OFN. He formulated policies which encouraged the Banking Sector to give soft loans to farmers or any Nigerians willing to invest in Farming and Agriculture.
It was the reason Obasanjo after his first retirement from Government in 1979, had acquired acres of Land at Ota in the outskirts of Lagos to start his own massive mechanized Farming which became the talk of the town.
It was the reason that Chief Oluyemi Falae, my former Permanent Secretary at the Manpower Department of the Federal Service , upon his retirement as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Merchant Bank, had returned home to Akure to establish his own huge mechanized farms at Ulado village near Umafon in Akure North Local Government.
It was for the same reason that Dr. Fatai Aborode with a Ph.D in Agric Economics had returned home to establish his own mechanized farming at the food basket area of the Ibarapa/Oke Ogun Area of the defunct Western Region of Nigeria now called the Southwest.
It was the same reason that General Buhari himself after his retirement from the Military had returned to Daura in Katsina to start his own mechanized large scale farming.
That was how he became the Patron of “ Myetti Allah” the umbrella Association of Cattle Rearers in Nigeria.
It is all of those farms and investments in Agriculture that the Fulani Herdsmen and their Boko Haram collaborators are targeting and destroying today all over the South by terrorizing all those bushes and forests killing and maiming people and kidnapping the owners of the Lands and raping their wives and demanding huge ransom to secure their release in a Federation supposedly governed by the Rule of Law.
If the Federal Government should help anyone at all , it should be those patriotic Nigerians who have heeded the advice of Government to return to farming in response to their Operation Feed the Nation clarion call.
It beats my imagination that it is those terrorists that the Buhari Government is supporting and giving a lot of Federal grants to guarantee their movement and security in their trespass of other peoples lands and properties.
To add more insult to an injury Nigerians should be amazed that Patriots like Sunday Igboho who had risked his own life to defend the embattled farmers of Oke Ogun/ Ibarapa Area of Oyo State is now the one being intimidated and hunted by the same Federal Authorities with jail and imprisonment.
Something is not right in Nigeria from this analogy and analysis.
The Buhari-led Federal Government must have his own Agenda by embarking on a deliberate Islamization and Fulanisation policies that cannot be in the best interest of the South Geo- political zones of Nigeria.
The whole South must unite to fight the oppression and the subjugation of the South and to expel all of the Fulanis and Boko Haram terrorists back to where they came from.
The declaration of War on Sunday Igboho and Good Samaritans like him all over the South should be viewed as a declaration of War on all of us.
It is time for the Southwest to defend itself. Tomorrow may be too late.
The invaders and the Fulani Herdsmen and Boko Haram terrorists have only spared the Obasanjo Farms in Ota because they knew Obasanjo as a retired General was going to kill all of them if they dared target his farms.
It is time for the Southwest and the Yorubas to defend ourselves.
Tomorrow may be too late.
I rest my case.
