A video of the heart-wrenching moment slain South African rapper, AKA’s daughter, Kairo Owethu, broke down in tears at his memorial service has been shared online.

The service was held in his honour at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Friday evening, February 17, with Mzanzi’s singers, actors, politicians, and other notable persons in attendance.

One of the most heartbreaking moments was when the late rapper’s seven-year-old daughter burst into tears at the memorial service. She was however consoled by her mother, DJ Zinhle and her grand mother.

It would be recalled that AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was shot dead by a yet-to-be identified gunman outside a restaurant in Durban, South Africa, at age 35.

His former manager, Tebello, also known as ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, was also shot and killed on the same day. They will both be buried today, February 18.

A while back, Nigerian singer, Burna Boy mourned the unfortunate demise of his South African colleague, Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA.

Taking to his Instastory, Burna Boy, who collaborated with AKA on a song titled “All eyes on Me” in 2014, penned an emotional tribute to him.

He recalled how he advised AKA to get a gun for self defense, after he (AKA) reprimanded him for having a gun on him.

He said eventhough he was not on good terms with AKA when he was alive, he didn’t want him to die, and he hopes his murderer is caught and prosecuted. Read here
