Kai Havertz believes Chelsea’s victory over Crystal Palace could be the catalyst to turn their season around.

The Germany star’s second-half header gave the Blues just a second win in nine Premier League games on the day the club announced the big-money arrival of Ukraine winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

‘That’s a huge win for us, definitely,’ said Havertz of a result that eased the pressure on Chelsea manager Graham Potter.

‘The last few weeks have been tough for us.

‘We knew that it wouldn’t be easy, we knew we’d have to work hard for the three points, but we said before the game this could be a match that turns things around for us.

‘I’m really happy to score and help the team.’

Potter, whose team go to Liverpool on Saturday, was without 11 players on Sunday after Denis Zakaria’s name was added to a lengthy injury list following last week’s defeat to Fulham, while new loan signing Joao Felix is banned.
