A man named Ibrahim Abdullahi, also known as Solo was killed by gunmen in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Saturday night and was confirmed by the Spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu.
The police said an investigation has started on the incident which took place around 8:40 pm in a low-cost residential estate near the Kankia General Hospital.
According to a resident who spoke anonymously to the News Agency of Nigeria, the gunmen rode to the estate on motorcycles and shot Ibrahim Abdullahi when he questioned them. They fled after the shooting, leaving him in a pool of blood.
The incident caused panic among traders, residents, and passers-by on the Katsina-Kano highway.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the area. Two weeks ago, gunmen kidnapped a person from the same housing estate. The victim is reportedly still in captivity.
The residents of the area are appealing to security agencies to protect their lives and property.
