Gunmen attack drug rehab center, kill 24

At least, 24 people on Wednesday were killed after gunmen attacked a drug rehabilitation facility in the central Mexican city of Irapuato.

Mexican police reported late Wednesday, that the attack underlined the challenge the government has in fulfilling a pledge to stop gang violence.

Police confirmed that seven people were also injured n the attack,NAN reports.

The attack is said to be one of the worst mass slayings since President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador took over.

On June 6, gunmen opened fire in a rehabilitation centre for addicts in Irapuato and killed ten men.

Guanajuato, a major car-making hub, has become one of the principal flash points of criminal violence in Mexico.

Rehab centres in Mexico are known to have been targeted by criminal gangs for the control of the drug business.
