Group protests in Kano, lambasts Tinubu’s anti-people policies

Over 100 members of the Joint Action Front, on Tuesday, stormed the streets of metropolitan Kano, protesting the hike in fuel pump price, electricity tariff, as well as education tuition fees.

Addressing newsmen on behalf of the group, its chairperson, Dr. Dipo Fashina lambasted President Bola Tinubu-led administration for introducing anti-people policy.

Also, he urged Nigerians to reject the International Monetary Fund policies of privatization and deregulation.

He emphasized that:” Government has a responsibility to make our Refineries to work and build new ones in order to ensure availability of petroleum products (petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel at cheaper and affordable prices to all.”

He  also called for a ” Total reversal of the capitalist policies of Privatisation and deregulation, which have been responsible for the non-functioning of the local refineries, looting by government officials and fuel marketers through fuel importation and the subsidies fraud.”

According to him: “Government, in obedience to Section 16 of the 1999 Constitution on Economic Objectives, should respect the provisions, which states that: the economic system is not operated in such a manner, as to permit the concentration of wealth; or means of production; and exchange in the hands of few individuals or a group.”
