Voice of Disability, (VDI) a non governmental organization that advocates for the protection of rights of persons with disability, especially women and the girl child, has called on Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, to domesticate the law against discrimination of persons with disabilities in the state.

The group made the appeal in collaboration with Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, in a communique signed by its Director, Barr Catherine Edeh.

They also called for the establishment of a Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

According to them, “when the Commission is established, it would be domiciled directly under the governor who oversee the affairs of persons with disabilities”.

They also called for the establishment of disability desks and engagement of sign language interpreters in government institutions, especially healthcare facilities, to enable persons with disabilities to access health care services.
