Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has suspended his newly appointed Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Olaiya Atibioke with immediate effect.
Newspot reports that Governor Oyebanji, on Tuesday, inaugurated a total of 19 commissioners and 14 special advisers.
Olaiya was suspended on Saturday, barely one week after inauguration.
Announcing the two weeks suspension, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the Governor stated that the suspension follows the commissioner’s unauthorised departure from the three-day retreat organised for members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries held in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital on Saturday.
“The Commissioner left the retreat without permission. He was nowhere to be found during the signing of the performance charter,” he said.
The Governor, who fully participated in all the sessions of the retreat, had earlier noted that there would be zero tolerance for indiscipline and poor performance.
