OSOGBO – 25/02/2025 – In a display of exceptional crisis management, Governor Ademola Adeleke has successfully upheld peace across Osun State, despite attempts by opposition factions to incite chaos. This assertion was made by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for the state governor, who vehemently dismissed allegations of thuggery against the administration as “libelous and defamatory.”
According to Rasheed, the accusations are unfounded and a mere fabrication by those he termed “children of anarchy.” He highlighted Governor Adeleke’s expertise in security and conflict resolution, which he employed to navigate the tense political landscape and prevent an escalation of violence.
Rasheed stated, “From the outset of the confrontation, the Governor utilized his skills to maintain peace, even amidst severe provocations. Our analysis showed that the opposition APC aimed to destabilize the state and undermine elected officials. Governor Adeleke astutely thwarted their plans, denying them the opportunity to ignite unrest.”
The spokesperson emphasized that the prevailing peace in Osun is a testament to the governor’s leadership, with citizens expressing gratitude for his efforts. In stark contrast, he claimed the APC is reeling from the failure of its destructive strategies against the state and its people.
Rasheed further clarified that recent visits by governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Muhammed were part of a peace mission, urging all parties involved to adhere to the rule of law. He condemned the violence that erupted on Monday, which resulted in injuries to several members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and reiterated the importance of non-retaliation among party members.
