OSOGBO, 26/02/2025 – In a heartfelt statement, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic murders of Mr. Ismaila Ibrahim and Hon. Kasali Adebayo, both members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Ilesa West. The Governor, through his spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed, urged the public to remain calm as his administration commits to pursuing every legal avenue to secure justice for the victims’ families.
In his condemnation of the violent acts perpetrated against PDP members by individuals associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Adeleke described the killings as barbaric and called for collective resistance against political violence. He emphasized that the pursuit of power should never come at the cost of human lives and urged citizens to prioritize peace and stability in the state.
Governor Adeleke extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, the broader PDP community, and all those affected by this tragic event. He expressed dismay at the fact that the perpetrators remain unpunished, suggesting a sense of impunity among those responsible for the violence.
“I commiserate with their families, PDP members in Ilesa West and beyond over this irreparable loss,” said Governor Adeleke. “I urge those affected by this terrible incident not to take the law into their own hands, as we will explore every legal option to bring their killers to justice.”
He reiterated his appeal to all residents of Osun to embrace peace, stating, “No life is worth the ephemeral nature of power. We must do away with any form of violence because it will do no one any good. I pray for the repose of the souls of Messrs Ismaila and Kasali, and everyone lost to the needless bloodletting by those who want to take power through the back door. May the peace of God be upon our homes and our dear state. Amin.”
