The Court of Appeal in Lagos will on Wednesday, November 15, deliver judgement on the appeal challenging the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, filed by the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran.
A notice sent out by the court to parties in the appeal indicated the judgement would be delivered at 3 pm.
Newspot reports that the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal struck out the LP candidate’s case challenging the victory of Sanwo-Olu in the 2023 governorship election.
The election tribunal declared Sanwo-Olu as the duly elected governor of the state and said Rhodes-Vivour’s petition lacked merit.
The Labour Party candidate had approached the tribunal to challenge Sanwo-Olu’s electoral victory in the March 18 polls, asking for its nullification on the grounds of non-qualification and corrupt practices.
He also accused the governor of non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
